Summary

A school brief taken into a real space and a working website. Summer 2023, in a team of three; the web design was mine, the character illustration was not. We brought neglected corners of the campus back as places to rest and built the site that guides people to them.

Overview

We named the habit of living as if chased by something "Doing", and the time spent clearing the mind and attending only to yourself "Being". Being was the rest we designed for.

The brief could have ended as a proposal. Instead we cleared the spaces, set our own operating principles and ran them.

The work

The site splits into Our Zone, Map and Archive: introduce the space, help people find it, keep a record. A character graphic on the windows gave the space and the site the same face. A teammate drew the character.

Reflection

Web design that stops at a mock-up and a site that actually runs are different jobs. I checked what could be built first, then redrew the screens.
